Spring on ice

Mission Statement:
To document the city in an attempt to inspire an appreciation and understanding of the uniqueness of Detroit, her buildings, and her people.

I have enjoyed seeing many of the lovely spring inspired photographs posted by my fellow bloggers here on Aminus3 over the past few days. Cherry blossoms in full bloom, couples holding hands and enjoying the first days warm enough to go for a stroll without a winter jacket. Here in Detroit winter is not quite ready to leave, the above photo was taken outside my door on March 24th. I am a firm believer in playing the hand that was dealt so this is my wintery post for the day.

Speramus meliora; resurget cineribus.
We hope for better things; it will arise from the ashes.

That's really cool. At first I thought it was jet's leaving a vapor trail.

Beautifully framed shot Ralph! Yes, I can sympathize with you! Being farther north still we have yet to reach daytime highs above freezing and there is still well over 4 feet of snow on the ground....... ;-))

@Eric Cousineau: OK I'm done complaining.

These lances shine like ice needles that light plays and sings on the blue sky. Winter is still in Detroit, no flowers or love spring, it is true that the current hours that saw the world are serious and veil the beauty of a spring manhandled and terrifying for many. I would like a lot of real spring in the world!

Wow, still icicle cold, eh? In looking at your thumbnail of this, earlier, I was sure this was a shot of the sky with jet streams in the sky. Now I see more clearly. Brrr.
